AMY - PERSONAL CREATIVE WORK

This furniture collection was inspired by my Great Grandmother Amy and her sculptures. By creating this collection I was able to feel close to my family history and exercise my own design interests. I completed this personal project by hand sketching, collaging, 3D modeling the furniture, and rendering the compositions.

My Great Grandma Amy was a traditionally trained sculptor who worked mainly in stone and metal. She spent most of her life in Woodstock, New York and established herself within the upstate artist community. Her work was tender and intimate, mostly depicting the abstracted female form and different animals. I was inspired not only by her body of work but also her sublime lifestyle filled with a rich artistic practice and eccentric friends. Designing with her life and work as inspiration was a way to bond with my family’s diverse history.
